Mobile Linear Accelerator

Client: University of Michigan Hospital

Location: Ann Arbor, Michigan

Architect Partner: A3C

Project Specifics: Construction of a new building for a mobile linear accelerator in front of the University of Michigan Hospital.

Challenges: In addition to working within a congested jobsite on a tight schedule, the unique division of scope presented a considerable challenge. While a medical systems company installed the pre-fabricated modular buildings and radiotherapy equipment, Shmina secured the foundation and performed the utilities and sight work. This required exceptional communication and coordination between both parties.

Cost: $7,000,000

“A. Z. Shmina met the challenge and proved to be a true partner in the overall effort. Scope lines can become blurred, but never was there a question of what was needed to be done for the benefit of the project and the owner. We hope to have the opportunity in the future to work once again with Shmina and the entire University of Michigan project team.”
